Just finished this tour and I'm blown away. The storytelling about how the Flavians used gladiator games as political theater was fascinating. That bit about the hidden tunnels where they kept the wild animals gave me chills - standing there imagining lions being hoisted up through those floor openings. The narrator's voice was perfect too, not overly dramatic but engaging. Best 25 minutes of our Rome trip so far.

Really enjoyed learning about the engineering behind the amphitheater. The section about the awning system was incredible - I had no idea they could cover the entire arena with fabric operated by sailors from the navy. My favorite part was when you look up from the arena floor and imagine 50,000 Romans screaming above you. Got a bit crowded halfway through so had to pause and restart, but the content is top quality.

Good introduction to the Colosseum's history. I learned a lot about how Vespasian chose this location to erase Nero's legacy - that political angle was really interesting. The story about the opening ceremony lasting 100 days was wild. Only complaint is I wish it covered more about what happened to the building after Rome fell. Also the audio cut out once near the part about the underground chambers. Still worth the download though.

Loved how this brought the ancient world to life. Standing on the upper levels while hearing about the social hierarchy - senators at the bottom, women and slaves at the top - made the Roman class system so tangible. The detail about how they flooded the arena for naval battles before the underground was built was amazing. My 12-year-old son was completely absorbed, which is saying something! Audio quality was crystal clear throughout.
