Arc de Triomphe

Absolutely brilliant way to experience the Arc de Triomphe. I've walked past it dozens of times but never really understood what I was looking at. The story about how Chalgrin kept pushing forward with construction even when everyone thought he was crazy really stuck with me. Standing there listening to the part about Napoleon's funeral procession while watching actual traffic circle around you - it gave me chills. The 26 minutes flew by and I found myself staying longer just to soak it all in.

Great audio tour that brings the monument to life. I particularly loved learning about the eternal flame ceremony and how it connects to the unknown soldier beneath your feet. The narrator has a engaging voice and the pacing felt just right - not rushed but not dragging either. The section about the viewing platform and what Napoleon could see from up there was fascinating. My only minor complaint is that it could have included more details about the sculptural reliefs, but overall very satisfied with this purchase.

The content was interesting and I learned things I never knew about the Arc de Triomphe's construction. The part about how the architect dealt with all the political changes during building was eye-opening. However, I wish there had been clearer directions about where exactly to stand for each section. A few times I felt lost trying to figure out which angle or view the narrator was referring to. Also would have been nice to have some visual cues or a map integrated into the app. The historical stories themselves were captivating though.
